This beautiful little side table has a very glossy blue-black glaze that compliments the color found on the lighter tiles. The patterns of the tiles form various kinds of grids which are somewhat contradicted by the shapes that the tiles are cut into.
Contradiction is also evident in the beautiful, unique and painterly steel base created by Neil Collins. He used intense heat to create the pattern on the skirt and feet of the table. The contrast between the light pattern and the dark background has an organic movement to it that is contained by the squareness of the actual forms.
The feet of the table are handmade and are connected to the skirt by solid, hexagonal steel rod legs.
